The Colorado Springs Symphony's annual teaming with Flash Cadillac has become a holiday tradition, truly THE party of the season. Recorded last year with former Music Director Christopher Wilkins at the baton, "Ghost of Christmas Past" is the perfect CD for parties. The title is appropriate because songs such as "Jingle Bell Rock," "All I Want For Christmas is You" and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" are made for Flash's classic 50s sound. Don't expect any surprises here. The beats are simple, predictable, and made for baby-boomer Dancing--not wild, tear-up-the-floor dancing, but the kind of simple swaying that is all folks can manage while wearing rented tuxes one size too small and heels 2 inches too high. The Colorado Springs Children's Chorale joins in on several songs and they sound flawless. A great time is had by all!

This is an audio postcard from last year's party with the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra, and you can hear the love of Phil Spector/Brian Wilson production and arrangements. Sam McFadin is a fine rock'n'roll singer, and Kris Moe writes great originals ("Christmas Party" sounds like "Jingle Bells" meets "Louie Louie" and "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow"). Santa should be extra good to any band that covers Roy Wood ("I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday").
